The College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of British Columbia (CRPNBC) exists to protect the public by regulating psychiatric nurses in BC to provide safe, competent and ethical care. Under the Health Professions Act, all Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) in BC must be registered with CRPNBC.

CRPNBC is not a teaching institution although it has “college” in its name. CRPNBC fulfills its role as a regulator by:

  • Setting and screening the qualifications for entry to practice and continuing registration.
  • Establishing standards for education and practice.
  • Promoting continuing competence and quality practice.
  • Dealing with complaints about RPN practice and conduct.
