The Department of Psychiatric Nursing offers the following programs:
- Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing

- Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing Degree Completion
The Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing program is designed to provide the graduate with specialized knowledge and skills to provide safe and comprehensive holistic care to individuals in the context of families, groups, and communities in a variety of mental health care settings. Each semester builds on foundation concepts and skills to prepare graduates to respond to the ever-changing health care needs of our society.
The Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing degree program is designed to provide the graduate with specialized knowledge and skills to provide safe, comprehensive holistic care to individuals, families, groups, and communities as context in a variety of mental health care settings. Each semester builds on foundation concepts and skills to prepare graduates to respond to the ever-changing health care needs of our society. The degree program prepares graduates for leadership positions in the Psychiatric Nursing profession.

Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN)
Program Description
The Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN) program educates nurses to work with individuals, families, groups and communities.
Students have opportunities to develop sensitivity to people's experiences with health and healing.
Practicing within the nurse's professional role, learners work as partners with clients and other health care providers.
Through their understanding of and participation in the changing health care system, graduates will be active participants in promoting health.
This 4 year (8 Semester) Program is offered full-time through summer and spring.

This nursing program has been approved by the CRPNBC Board of Directors.
Overview
For the first time in British Columbia it is possible to complete Psychiatric Nursing Education while living in a region outside the lower mainland. Through a mixture of educational delivery methods. and with clinical placements in the student's local health authority, the program will be accessible to those living in remote cities and communities in the North, Interior and Vancouver Island.
This Diploma program, approved by the Board of Directors at CRPNBC, will prepare individuals to work in a variety of mental health areas, providing psychiatric nursing services to the public. The program is also delivered in a condensed format, allowing students to graduate within 23 months. Graduates will be eligible to continue on to year 3 of the baccalaureate program.
The curriculum includes classroom, lab, online courses. tutorials and clinical practice experiences, provided and supervised by experienced and qualified psychiatric nursing instructors. The successful completion of this program will provide you with a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and make you eligible to write the national registration exam.

Thompson Rivers University - Open Learning Program
Bachelor Of Health Science (Psychiatric Nursing)
Offered in collaboration with Douglas College (BC), Department of Psychiatric Nursing, this program is only available to applicants residing in Canada.
The TRU-OL Bachelor of Health Science degree programs have been designed to:
- Provide academic recognition for advanced-level training in selected health disciplines and specialties.
- Allow working health professionals to broaden their education and enhance their skills, knowledge, career options, and academic credentials without having to leave the workforce for an extended period.
- Make advanced studies available to professionals in selected health occupations at a convenient time and place.
