Scholarships and Bursaries
Annete Osted Scholarship, Registered Psychiatric Nurses Foundation – minimum of $500.00 to a psychiatric nursing student presently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of their psychiatric nursing degree program at a university in Canada. To apply: www.rpnf.ca
Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association Memorial Scholarship – awarded to an outstanding Registered Nurse, Licensed or Registered Practical Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nursewho is undertaking further education in a post-basic undergraduate nursing degree program with a gerontological nursing focus. Douglas College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Stenberg College– each psychiatric nursing program in B.C. receives $3,000 per year from the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of B.C. to provide scholarships and bursaries for students in their psychiatric nursing program. The individual programs should be contacted for more information.
John Alex Crawford Scholarship, Registered Psychiatric Nurses Foundation – for an Registered Psychiatric Nurses pursuing masters or doctoral studies that are directly related any one of the four domains of psychiatric nursing practice. Click here for details.
Martin Ramslie Memorial Award $500.00 – This award, which was funded by Forensic Psychiatric Services in remembrance of Martin Ramslie RPN, recognizes a graduating Psychiatric Nursing Student who exemplifies “best peer support” student. The recipient would be a graduating student with demonstrable practice in interpersonal relationships and communication skills, as these particular traits best reflect Martin Ramslie’s legacy. The award is administered by the Union of Psychiatric Nurses.
Melodie Hull Psychiatric Nursing Endowment Award – $1000.00 per year awarded to a continuing BPN student entering year 4. Based on demonstrated commitment to the profession of psychiatric nursing. Chosen by Faculty in the BPN program, awarded by the Kwantlen Foundation
Dr. Samarthji Lal Award for Mental Health Research – The Graham Boeckh Foundation funds the Dr. Samarthji Lal Award, which recognizes a Canadian researcher focusing on major mental health disorders. The candidate must be in mid-career and making an outstanding contribution to the field. Applications for 2013 are now being accepted.
